Terms of service

Fold is operated by Cotek App FZ-LLC. Setting up a church, or signing in to one, means accepting these terms.

What Fold is

A membership directory for a local church: a record of its members, a way for them to keep their own details current, and a printed directory generated from it. It is a tool for the church’s administration. It is not a substitute for the church’s own judgement about who belongs to it.

Your church’s responsibilities

• To put people into the directory only where it is proper to do so, and to tell them it exists.
• To give administrator access only to people the church trusts with the whole record.
• To decide what appears in the printed directory and how it is distributed.
• To keep sign-in details private, and to end access promptly when someone leaves.
• To comply with the data-protection law that applies where the church is.

Ours

• To keep the service running, and to say so plainly when it is not.
• To process what a church puts in only on that church’s instructions.
• To give reasonable notice of changes that materially affect how the service works.
• To let a church export or delete its directory.

What you may not do

Use Fold to hold or send anything unlawful; attempt to reach another church’s directory; probe or interfere with the service’s security; or extract a church’s directory for a purpose that church has not agreed to.

Availability

The service is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or free of faults. Email delivery depends on providers outside our control; a church that needs certainty that a message arrived should confirm it another way.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our liability arising out of the service is limited to the fees paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Telling us about a security problem

If you find a way to see something in Fold you should not, please write to support@cotek.live. Report it rather than exploring it: do not access, download, alter or delete anybody else’s data, and do not run tests that degrade the service for the churches using it. We will acknowledge you within a few days and keep you informed. We will not pursue anyone who reports a genuine problem in good faith and within those bounds.

Attempting to reach another church’s directory, or a member’s record you have not been given access to, is a breach of these terms and, depending on where you are, of the law.

Looking after what leaves the app

A printed directory and an exported spreadsheet are the whole congregation’s details in a file that can be forwarded in one gesture. Once downloaded they are outside our control entirely. A church should treat them the way it treats its giving records: kept by the people who need them, distributed to members rather than published, and deleted when they are done with.

Invitation links, password-reset links and the addresses of identity documents are credentials. Do not post them into a group chat or a shared inbox.

Ending it

A church may stop using Fold at any time and take its directory with it. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and will say why.
